We are seeking a UI Technical Designer to help translate UX/visual direction into implementable UI specifications and prototypes for Unreal Engine. In this role, you'll work between design and engineering, contributing to flows, interaction behavior, navigation rules, and component standards that ship across platforms and input methods.
Responsibilities
-
Contribute to UI flows, user journeys, and interaction models for in-game screens and features; produce clear, implementable specs
-
Help build and maintain a UI component system (patterns, components, variants, states) that supports consistent implementation
-
Document behavior rules: navigation/focus order, back behavior, input handling expectations, error/empty/loading states, and common edge cases
-
Collaborate regularly with client engineers and UI artists to ensure designs are feasible, performant, and consistent in-engine
-
Support iteration and polish: review implementations, provide feedback, and adjust designs based on technical constraints and playtest/QA findings
Requirements
-
Solid UI/UX foundation with 2+ years of experience working on digital products or game UI
-
Confident proficiency in Figma (components, variants, auto-layout, reusable libraries, handoff-ready documentation)
-
Ability to create implementation-ready documentation: annotated layouts, interaction notes, state diagrams, and acceptance criteria
-
Basic understanding of Unreal UI constraints and workflows
-
Familiarity with UMG concepts (layout, anchors, scaling, widget states/animations) sufficient to design with engine realities in mind
-
Awareness of focus-based navigation and multi-input requirements (controller + keyboard/mouse)
-
Experience designing responsive UI for multiple resolutions/aspect ratios and safe-area considerations
-
Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher
Nice to have
-
Exposure to UI systems/framework conventions used in Unreal (e.g., screen stacks, activatable views, common navigation patterns)
-
Awareness of localization-aware design (string expansion, truncation rules, dynamic layouts)
-
Understanding of accessibility/readability considerations (contrast, font sizing, couch-distance UI)
-
Experience working on live products with regular iteration and releases
