The Role and Team
Medallia’s SRE and Production Services Team is seeking a Staff FinOps Analyst to lead cloud cost management and optimization across a hybrid environment spanning public and private clouds. The ideal candidate will bring deep, hands-on experience with AWS and OCI cost management and the ability to quickly develop proficiency in Azure and GCP where needed.
This role will improve cost visibility, identify and drive savings opportunities, strengthen budgeting and alerting, and promote financial accountability across technical and business teams. Success requires strong knowledge of cloud pricing and billing models, cloud-native cost-management capabilities, and practical use of command-line interfaces, APIs, and basic shell scripting to collect data and automate recurring FinOps activities.
Responsibilities:
Monitor and analyze cloud spend, usage, commitments, and cost trends; identify, quantify, prioritize, and track savings opportunities including rightsizing, idle-resource remediation, storage optimization, and cleanup of unnecessary cloud resources.
Evaluate and manage commitment and discount programs, including Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, OCI commitments, and comparable offerings, balancing coverage, utilization, flexibility, and savings.
Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, cost thresholds, anomaly detection, dashboards, alerts, and recurring reporting to provide visibility into spend, utilization, optimization opportunities, and realized savings.
Use cloud-provider interfaces, APIs, and CLI tools to extract billing, inventory, usage, utilization, and configuration data, and use basic Bash or shell scripting to automate recurring FinOps data collection and reporting activities.
Maintain and drive a prioritized optimization backlog, working with SRE, infrastructure, engineering, finance, procurement, application teams, and resource owners to validate recommendations, coordinate implementation, and confirm measurable savings.
Support cloud cost governance and accountability, including tagging, ownership mapping, account and tenancy structures, showback/chargeback inputs, and analysis of the cost implications of capacity, storage, data transfer, licensing, service selection, and workload placement. Track relevant pricing and billing changes and provide actionable guidance to stakeholders.
Candidates based in the Buenos Aires vicinity will be prioritized as this role is Hybrid, 3 days per week onsite.

Ability to use APIs and write basic Bash or shell scripts to collect data, process outputs, and automate routine FinOps reporting or analysis.
Strong analytical skills, including experience working with large billing and usage datasets using spreadsheets, SQL, business-intelligence tools, or comparable analysis platforms, and the ability to translate findings into clear recommendations and measurable business outcomes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering, operations, finance, procurement, and business teams.
