The Opportunity
Rystad Energy is looking for a Senior Analyst to lead coverage of Argentina and South American shale oil and gas markets — with Vaca Muerta squarely in the spotlight. This role sits at the intersection of technical and commercial analysis: you'll build proprietary models forecasting shale supply and breakeven economics, dig into well-by-well production data (GOR evolution, liquids yields, midstream bottlenecks), and translate it all into research reports and strategic outlooks that shape how clients see the region.
Beyond the analysis, it's a visible, client-facing role — think conference panels, client meetings, media commentary, and consulting engagements — so it suits someone who's as comfortable presenting findings as they are building the model behind them.
Job Responsibilities
-
Lead analysis of Argentina and South American shale oil and gas markets, demonstrating a strong understanding of regional dynamics and their implications for global trends.
-
Create and maintain models using primary research and proprietary Rystad Energy datasets to forecast shale oil and gas supply and assess breakeven economics.
-
Conduct detailed well-by-well analysis to assess production performance and development trends, including GOR evolution, liquids and condensate yields, infrastructure constraints, and midstream bottlenecks affecting production growth and evacuation capacity.
-
Produce quantitative and qualitative research reports and commentary delivering strategic market outlooks.
-
Participate in conferences and client meetings and support business development activities.
-
Create and deliver effective presentations and impactful research notes showcasing findings from data analysis and market research.
-
Be a thought leader and represent the company in media engagements
-
Contribute to shale-related consulting projects, providing analytical expertise and market insights.
Requirements / Skills
-
Minimum 5 years of direct industry experience in shale oil and gas, combining strong technical and commercial expertise, ideally with a focus on Latin American shale markets.
-
Strong academic background in a relevant field such as engineering, economics, finance, geoscience, or information technology.
-
Demonstrated ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources and translate it into clear, actionable market insights.
-
Ability to handle and analyze large datasets; proficiency in Python or other commonly used programming languages is a plus.
-
Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to build robust analyses and communicate findings effectively.
-
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on and intellectually curious approach.
-
Developed AI adoption on workflows and automations
-
Strong commercial mindset and ability to understand client needs and identify opportunities for value creation.
-
Collaborative team player who is equally comfortable working independently and taking ownership of deliverables.
-
Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings, conferences, and industry events.
-
Fluency in English and Spanish required; Portuguese is a plus.
