Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a PreSales Solution Consultant with deep Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) expertise to support enterprise sales initiatives. This role partners closely with Sales, Product, and Delivery teams to translate manufacturing and operational challenges into compelling MES solutions that drive measurable business value.
The ideal candidate combines manufacturing domain knowledge , technical acumen , and customerfacing consulting skills , and acts as a trusted advisor to manufacturing, IT, and executive stakeholders.
In this position you will report to the Enterprise Software Solution Consultant Manager.
Your Responsibilities:
PreSales & Sales Support
Partner with Sales teams to support qualified opportunities throughout the sales cycle
Lead or participate in customer discovery sessions to understand manufacturing processes, pain points, and business objectives
Translate business requirements into MES solution concepts and architectures
Support RFP, RFI, and proposal responses by providing technical input and solution positioning
Contribute to statements of work (SOW) and solution assumptions from a technical perspective
Solution Design & Demonstrations
Design highlevel MES architectures aligned with customer IT/OT landscapes
Configure and deliver tailored MES demonstrations based on customer industry, maturity, and use cases
Articulate the value proposition of MES solutions, including productivity, quality, compliance, and operational efficiency
Collaborate with Product Management to provide market feedback and influence roadmap discussions
Customer Engagement & Consulting
Serve as a technical and domain expert during customer presentations and workshops
Build credibility with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and IT teams
Support executivelevel conversations by framing MES investments in terms of ROI and strategic outcomes
Assist in positioning phased or enterprisewide MES roadmaps
The Essentials - You Will Have:
Experience & Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Associate’s degree considered). Candidates without a formal degree will also be considered if they possess substantial, demonstrated experience directly aligned with the responsibilities and scope of this role.
3–10+ years of experience in:
MES implementation or consulting
Manufacturing IT/OT systems
Presales or solution consulting roles supporting enterprise software
MES & Manufacturing Knowledge
Strong understanding of MES concepts, including:
Production execution and work order management
Traceability and genealogy
Quality management and SPC
OEE and downtime analysis
Electronic Batch Records (EBR) / eDHR
Familiarity with ISA95 / IEC 62264 standards
Experience in one or more manufacturing environments:
Discrete, Process, or Hybrid manufacturing
Technical Skills
Experience with one or more MES platforms (e.g.,PLEX, Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell FactoryTalk MES, Proficy, SAP ME/MII, AVEVA MES, Ignition MES)
Understanding of system integration concepts:
ERP integrations (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, etc.)
PLCs, SCADA, OPC UA
Industrial data historians
Relational databases (SQL)
APIs and web services
Soft Skills & Competencies
Strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to communicate effectively with:
Plantfloor personnel
IT and OT teams
Executive leadership
Proven ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
Consultative mindset with strong problemsolving skills
Comfortable working in a fastpaced, opportunitydriven sales environment
Preferred / NicetoHave Qualifications
Experience supporting global or multisite MES deployments
Knowledge of regulatory environments (e.g., FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, ISO)
Exposure to:
Industry 4.0 / IIoT initiatives
Cloud or hybrid MES architectures
PLM or MOM integrations
