Role Overview
The GMS platform has reached a level of technical complexity where standard Product Management is no longer sufficient. We are not looking for a "generalist" PM who manages UIs, we require a Lead Technical Product Manager, a hybrid professional who possesses the technical maturity of a former Tech Lead or Senior Engineer. This is a non-negotiable requirement to manage a "headless" API-only platform where the product is the data itself.
The ideal candidate is a product strategist who began their career in the trenches of software development. You must have successfully transitioned from hands-on engineering to product leadership, bringing 7+ years of total experience. We are looking for individuals who have honed their craft at organizations where "content is data," such as Disney Streaming, Netflix, Bloomberg, or Spotify.
Core Pillars of the GMS Transformation:
- Global Metadata & Schemas: Establishing the unified language for content across all business units.
- Knowledge Graphs & Semantic Search: Moving beyond keyword matching to deep, context-aware content discovery.
- Contextual Advertising & IAB Taxonomies: Driving revenue through automated, precise content categorization.
- Multimodal AI Enrichment: Extracting high-fidelity data from text, image, audio, and video assets.
What you'll do:
- Reclaiming the Backlog: You will shift the team from current state to authoritative backlog ownership. You determine the "what" and the "why," ensuring engineers never operate in a vacuum.
- Enforcing Ticket Rigor: You are responsible for authoring highly technical tickets with concrete, uncompromising acceptance criteria. You define the standards that engineering must meet.
- Intercepting Trade-offs: You must have the technical confidence to challenge engineering architects. You will actively audit and push back on proposed solutions that introduce unnecessary complexity or fail to align with the commercial roadmap.
- Headless/API-Only: This is a complex, API-first platform with no UI. You must be able to conceptualize, manage, and drive product vision for headless architecture.
- Technical Evaluation & Spikes: You will lead technical "spikes" to evaluate the vendor’s database. You are responsible for identifying critical metadata requirements, for example extracting MIRIS object data (identifying specific entities within video frames) to power semantic search.
- Implementation & Pivot: You design the ingestion pipeline specifications and define detailed API distribution schemas. When client requirements shift mid-project, as they inevitably do, you must pivot the technical strategy without breaking the commercial integrity of the deal.
- Multimodal Discovery: You will lead the implementation of semantic search, embeddings, vector databases, and IAB taxonomies.
- Technical & API Leadership: Define and read OpenAPI/Swagger specifications, structure JSON responses, anticipate error codes, and set business rules for API Usage Plans (including RPS and monthly quotas).
- Collaboration: Partner with engineering and AI teams on enrichment pipelines, embeddings, OCR, transcription, and metadata extraction workflows.
MUST HAVES:
- Prior Engineering Career: You must have started your career as a hands-on Software Engineer or Developer. Generalist PMs will not be considered.
- TPM Experience: Proven track record in high-volume data distribution or multimodal media pipelines.
- Technical Mastery: Absolute fluency in OpenAPI/Swagger, JSON schema design, and distributed systems architecture.
- Proven experience delivering metadata, taxonomy, search, AI, or content intelligence platforms.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a nearshore location supporting US ET business hours.
NICE TO HAVES:
- Experience working with CMS, publishing, media asset management, or content platforms.
- Experience at Tier-1 media/tech firms (eg. Disney, Netflix, Bloomberg, Amazon Prime Video).
- Deep knowledge of Vector Databases, MAM systems, or Ad-Tech.
