Remote Recruiter, Civil Construction
Company Overview
We support active civil construction hiring needs across New York State. Our work helps contractors and project teams secure the field and project talent needed to keep jobs moving. This role matters because the quality and speed of your recruiting directly affect real project delivery.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity for an experienced civil construction recruiter who already knows the New York market and wants flexible, performance-based work. The role can be done on a part-time basis alongside your current job, making it especially attractive for someone who already has strong industry reach and can deliver results without needing a traditional full-time structure. You will work on active searches, not speculative openings, and you will be measured by hires, pipeline strength, and delivery.
What You'll Do
- Lead full-cycle recruiting for civil construction roles across New York, including Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, heavy equipment operators, foremen, laborers, and other field personnel.
- Build candidate pipelines for hard-to-fill roles using direct outreach, LinkedIn, referrals, niche sourcing channels, and industry relationships.
- Identify and engage candidates with relevant experience in civil/site work, utilities, roadwork, infrastructure, fiber, and related project environments.
- Screen candidates for technical fit, certifications, New York project experience, and practical considerations such as union or non-union background and compliance awareness.
- Partner with hiring stakeholders to clarify actual hiring needs, refine search priorities, and improve candidate quality.
- Manage activity in the ATS, maintain strong candidate communication, and help move qualified candidates through to close.
What Success Looks Like
In the first 6 to 12 months, success in this role will look like:
- Filling priority civil construction roles in New York with qualified candidates who match both the technical requirements and project realities.
- Creating a repeatable pipeline for recurring and low-supply positions rather than depending only on job board applicants.
- Delivering consistent outreach activity and candidate flow that shortens time-to-fill on active searches.
- Building credibility with hiring stakeholders by presenting stronger, better-matched candidates.
- Producing hires in specialized areas such as utilities, underground, roadway, infrastructure, union, or public works environments where applicable.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a recruiter who can step in and produce without a long learning curve. The strongest candidates will bring:
- 3+ years of recruiting experience specifically in civil construction.
- Proven success filling roles in New York State.
- Strong understanding of civil/site work, utilities, roadwork, infrastructure, or fiber construction.
- Ability to source proactively through outreach, networking, and referrals rather than relying only on inbound applicants.
- Comfort working independently in a remote, flexible, performance-based arrangement.
Candidates with an existing network of New York civil construction talent, union recruiting experience, DOT or public works exposure, or experience with HDD, utilities, or underground construction will stand out.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation includes bonus incentives tied to hires and delivery. This role can be structured as part-time, contract, or flexible engagement depending on the candidate. Benefits and exact pay details should be added before posting if applicable.
Work Location / Schedule
This role is remote. Candidates must have direct experience recruiting for civil construction roles in New York State. The position can be performed part-time and may be suitable for someone doing this in addition to their current job, provided they can maintain consistent delivery and communication. Specific weekly hour expectations should be added before posting.
