We are looking for a Chief DSE Specialist to join our organization. This opportunity is ideal for a technically flexible professional who can comfortably transition among platform management, coding tasks, and architectural planning discussions. You will thrive in a culture that values independent judgment and hands-on collaboration with stakeholders on the client side. This role offers a substantial opportunity to influence the continued growth of a contemporary data infrastructure.
Responsibilities
-
Manage the Snowflake platform, including warehouse configuration, database upkeep, resource monitoring, and cost oversight
-
Establish user profiles and role assignments, while overseeing RBAC setup, security protocols, and permission frameworks across the system
-
Support end users through resolving access-related concerns, addressing query performance issues, and fixing data availability gaps
-
Enforce robust governance practices platform-wide to ensure ongoing consistency and adherence to regulatory expectations
-
Draft SQL code addressing both DDL requirements and analytical querying tasks
-
Utilize and customize established CI/CD pipelines to enable smooth Snowflake deployment operations
-
Participate in developing semantic models while contributing to quality assurance and governance initiatives
-
Embed AI capabilities within Snowflake operations, with Cortex as the preferred approach
-
Collaborate with the client's data architect to construct and broaden the medallion architecture design
-
Provide input on data modeling decisions across the bronze, silver, and gold tiers
Requirements
-
A minimum of 7 years of practical experience working with Snowflake or a similar platform
-
At least 2 years dedicated to leading and overseeing teams
-
Sophisticated SQL proficiency, spanning DDL, complex query development, and performance enhancement
-
Experience administering Snowflake systems, including RBAC, warehouse oversight, resource monitor configuration, and security implementation
-
Hands-on data modeling expertise, including the ability to discuss medallion, dimensional, or vault frameworks and their comparative advantages
-
Genuine production-level experience with either dbt or Snowflake Streams & Tasks, extending beyond introductory knowledge
-
Working knowledge of CI/CD methodologies, including comfort navigating and modifying established pipelines; Terraform familiarity is advantageous, with a baseline understanding of its function expected at minimum
-
Broad development experience in any coding language, be it Python, Java, or JavaScript, reflecting an engineering-oriented approach rather than one limited to query writing
-
Direct experience applying AI/LLM technologies within data-focused contexts, with particular emphasis on Snowflake Cortex exposure
-
Firm grasp of semantic modeling principles, quality assurance methodologies, and governance structures
-
Confidence engaging directly with client-side stakeholders, including architects and permanent employees, without depending on an intermediary team layer
-
Excellent English communication skills (B2 level or higher)
Nice to have
