We are seeking a Senior Search Engineer with strong experience in search technologies such as Apache Solr, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or similar to design, build and optimize scalable search solutions. The role focuses on improving search performance, relevancy and indexing pipelines in a cloud-based environment. This role includes ownership of search relevance across both traditional keyword-based and modern semantic (vector-based) retrieval.
Responsibilities

Design, build and maintain search platforms

Optimization of search relevancy, ranking and query performance

Build and manage indexing pipelines for large datasets

Deploy and operate services in a cloud environment (AWS)

Collaboration with cross-functional teams on search and recommendation features
-
Exploration and implementation of ML-driven enhancements for search
-
Support and implement both keyword-based and semantic (vector-based) search capabilities
-
Measure and improve search relevance using evaluation metrics and experimentation

Implementation of ranking optimization, including learning-to-rank (LTR)
-
Support and evolve existing Solr-based production search system (SolrCloud), including scaling, sharding and replication
-
Establishment of monitoring, SLOs, runbooks and participation in incident response and root cause analysis

Contribution to CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation and operational best practices for search services
Requirements
-
3+ years of experience with search technologies (Solr preferred, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch or similar) with a solid foundational understanding of search concepts and systems

Expertise in Search Engines, Search Engine Optimization and Solr

Proficiency in Java

Background in AWS cloud services and modern deployment practices

Skills in Kubernetes, containerized platforms and CI/CD tooling

Capability to work with containerized and cloud-native environments, including Kubernetes-based deployments and operations

English proficiency at B2 level or higher
