Our Client is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to own and scale our analytics infrastructure. This role is responsible for designing and maintaining our data warehouse, developing scalable reporting solutions, and transforming complex data into actionable business insights.
This is a highly technical, hands-on role for someone who enjoys building systems that scale. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with business stakeholders to understand their needs, translating business logic into technical solutions, and partnering closely with engineering to build reliable, long-term data infrastructure.
Rather than simply responding to reporting requests, you will proactively identify opportunities to improve how data is collected, modeled, and delivered across the organization.
Key responsibilities
DATA WAREHOUSING & ARCHITECTURE
● Design, build, and maintain a scalable enterprise data warehouse.
● Develop reusable data models and data marts that support recurring business needs.
● Continuously improve warehouse architecture as new business requirements emerge.
● Ensure data quality, consistency, and long-term maintainability across reporting
SQL SERVER DEVELOPMENT
● Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries to support reporting and analytics.
● Develop and maintain production stored procedures and views while ensuring downstream reports and applications remain stable.
● Translate complex business logic into scalable SQL solutions.
● Optimize query performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
AMAZON DATA & ANALYTICS
● Integrate and analyze data from Amazon Seller Central, SP-API, and Amazon Ads API.
● Understand the strengths and limitations of Amazon reporting sources and recommend the appropriate data source for each business need.
● Develop reporting and insights around key ecommerce metrics, including:
- Customer Lifetime Value (LTV)
- Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)
- Advertising performance
- Sales and profitability
- Inventory performance
- Operational KPIs
METRIC ACCURACY & VALIDATION
● Own the accuracy of business metrics across all reporting environments.
● Define and document metric logic so definitions stay consistent and transparent across teams.
● Reconcile results against Amazon Seller Central, SP-API, Amazon Ads API, and other source systems to confirm they agree.
● Identify and investigate discrepancies between sources, and resolve the root cause rather than the symptom.
● Verify that reported numbers represent business reality, not just technically correct
query output.
INSIGHTS & RECOMMENDATIONS
● Explain what is driving the results, not just what the numbers say.
● Surface risks and opportunities in the data proactively, before being asked.
● Propose concrete, evidence-based actions tied to business outcomes.
● Translate findings into recommendations that both technical and non-technical stakeholders can act on.
BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP
● Partner directly with business stakeholders to understand goals, define requirements, and recommend scalable data solutions.
● Challenge requests when a different analytical approach will better solve the underlying business problem.
● Present findings and recommendations in a clear, actionable manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
● Serve as a trusted partner across leadership, operations, marketing, and engineering.
REPORTING & AUTOMATION
● Build scalable dashboards, reporting solutions, and automated data workflows.
● Replace repetitive ad hoc reporting with reusable reporting frameworks.
● Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve data accessibility.
● Maintain clear documentation for reporting logic, warehouse architecture, and data definitions.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION
● Work closely with software engineers to support data pipelines and internal applications.
● Participate in technical discussions around architecture, integrations, and system improvements.
● Contribute to projects that improve the organization's overall data capabilities.
Qualifications
● 3+ years of hands-on SQL experience in a production environment.
● Advanced SQL skills, including:
- Stored Procedures
- Views
- Indexing
- Query Optimization
● Demonstrated ability to translate business logic into SQL solutions rather than simply executing pre-written queries.
● Experience writing and maintaining production stored procedures and views without disrupting downstream consumers.
● Proven experience building a data warehouse from the ground up or significantly evolving an existing warehouse.
● Experience designing and delivering reusable data marts that support recurring business needs.
● Deep understanding of Amazon reporting, including Seller Central reporting, SP-API, Amazon Ads API, and the capabilities and limitations of each.
● Experience turning Amazon data into meaningful business insights, including Customer Lifetime Value (LTV), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), advertising performance, profitability, and operational reporting.
● Demonstrated ownership of metric accuracy: defining metric logic, documenting definitions, and reconciling results across multiple source systems to confirm they reflect business reality.
● Track record of turning analysis into action: explaining what drives results, flagging risks and opportunities, and recommending concrete next steps rather than only delivering data.
● Experience working directly with stakeholders to scope business requirements, ask thoughtful questions, and recommend scalable solutions rather than simply taking requests at face value.
● Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience working with T-SQL.
● Experience working at an ecommerce brand or ecommerce agency.
● Strong programming mindset with the ability to collaborate directly with software engineers and contribute to software projects when appropriate.
● Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while using AI tools such as Claude or similar platforms to improve productivity and accelerate development.
Nice to Have
● Experience with Google Apps Script.
● Experience implementing dbt from the ground up.
● Experience using Git and version control workflows.
● Familiarity with PostgreSQL / Supabase
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM ET. The role is
fully remote, and reliable availability during these hours is required for collaboration with
internal teams.
Work From Home Requirements
● Stable wired internet connection (DSL or Fiber) with a minimum download/upload speed of 10 Mbps.
● Backup internet solution (LTE mobile data or pocket WiFi).
● Desktop or laptop computer with at least an Intel i3 processor (or equivalent).
● Quality headset with microphone and noise cancellation preferred.
● External or integrated webcam.
