We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to support and evolve data platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Microsoft Azure for a leading client in the paper industry.
This role is designed for professionals with strong technical expertise who can design, build, optimize, and maintain scalable, reliable, and efficient data solutions . The position requires working in complex enterprise environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring high-quality data delivery aligned with business needs.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines in cloud environments (GCP and/or Azure).
- Implement data ingestion, transformation, and modeling processes (ETL / ELT).
- Optimize performance, cost, and reliability of cloud-based data solutions.
- Handle large volumes of structured and unstructured data .
- Collaborate with Data Analytics, BI, Architecture, and Business teams to understand requirements and propose effective technical solutions.
- Ensure data quality, security, and governance best practices are applied.
- Participate in code reviews, technical standards definition, and documentation .
- Provide technical support and incident resolution in production environments.
- Proven experience as a Senior Data Engineer or in similar roles.
- Strong expertise in cloud platforms , particularly:
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP) (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Composer, etc.)
- or Microsoft Azure (preferred/acceptable)
- Solid experience in ETL / ELT pipeline development .
- Advanced proficiency in SQL .
- Strong programming skills in Python (mandatory) ; knowledge of Scala or Java is a plus .
- Hands-on experience with data modeling (Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, Lakehouse architectures).
- Experience using version control systems (Git) .
- Proven experience working in production environments , ensuring stability, performance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with distributed processing frameworks such as Apache Spark.
- Knowledge of modern data architectures (streaming, event-driven).
- Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Understanding of cloud security and access management (IAM) .
- Previous experience in manufacturing, industrial, or continuous process industries (nice to have).
- Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer
- Or equivalent cloud certifications
- Intermediate to advanced English (preferred)
- Not mandatory, but highly valued for collaboration with global teams and interaction with technical documentation and international stakeholders.
