Job Description
You will lead a technical pod of full-stack DevOps/DevSecOps engineers while staying hands-on in the code, the architecture, and the pipelines. This is a player-coach role: you set technical direction across the stack, run design and code reviews, unblock the team, and double as the project manager for the engagement. You are the single point of accountability for what the pod ships and how it ships.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
-
Own end-to-end architecture across infrastructure, CI/CD, and application layers for cloud portal workloads on Azure and GCP.
-
Drive systems-level design: trade-off analysis, reference architectures, reusable Terraform/Ansible/Helm patterns, and platform conventions the team builds against.
-
Run code reviews and design reviews. Set the quality bar and the definition of done.
-
Stay hands-on: contribute IaC modules, pipeline logic, and application code as needed. Expect roughly 40-60% individual contribution alongside leadership.
-
Champion AI-first development practices across the pod: model-assisted coding, prompt and context discipline, agentic workflows in IDEs and CI, and review of AI-generated output for security and correctness.
Delivery & Project Management
-
Run the pod as project manager: sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, status reporting to BETSOL and client stakeholders.
-
Maintain the backlog, sequence work against client priorities, and surface risks early.
-
Lead release management, change control, and post-incident reviews.
-
Forecast capacity as the pod scales from 2-3 to 5-6 engineers and partner with BETSOL on hiring loops for added seats.
People & Mentorship
-
Onboard new engineers, set growth paths, and provide regular one-on-one technical coaching.
-
Build a culture of ownership, transparent communication, and continuous learning.
DevSecOps Governance
-
Embed security, compliance (FedRAMP, FIPS, CIS, ISO, PCI), and observability standards into every delivery the pod produces.
-
Partner with client security teams on threat modeling and audit response.
Qualifications
Looking For
8+ years in software engineering or platform engineering, with at least 2 years leading a delivery team of 3+ engineers. Hands-on coding within the last 12 months is required.
Mandatory Skills
A. Technical
-
Deep cloud architecture experience on Azure and GCP (AKS/GKE, App Gateway, VNets, NSGs, Key Vault, Managed Identities, IAM, networking).
-
Strong with Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Kubernetes, and reusable module design.
-
CI/CD pipeline design with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, including blue/green, canary, and rollback strategies.
-
DevSecOps: SAST/DAST/SCA tooling, container and image scanning, supply chain security, secrets/cert/key management with vault solutions.
-
Familiarity with security frameworks, such as: FedRAMP, FIPS, CIS Benchmarks, ISO, PCI.
-
Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, Google Cloud Monitoring, Log Analytics; SLO/SLI/error-budget practice.
-
Full-stack application fluency for portal use cases (modern JS/TS frontend, REST APIs, common backend frameworks).
-
Scripting in Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
-
Practical experience with AI-first development: working daily with AI coding assistants, building or governing agentic dev workflows, reviewing AI output for quality and security.
B. Soft Skills
-
Excellent written and verbal English; comfortable in US-EST hour stakeholder conversations.
-
Calm, structured communication with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
-
Strong problem-solving and systems thinking.
-
Ownership mindset and clear accountability for outcomes.
Good to Have
-
Prior staff-augmentation or consulting delivery experience.
-
Background in regulated industries (BFSI, healthcare, government).

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
