Description and Requirements

The Opportunity

The Managing Actuary is responsible for providing strategic actuarial leadership across MAS US, ensuring the delivery of high-quality actuarial results, robust governance, regulatory compliance, and strong partnership with Finance, Business, and Global Actuarial teams. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding the integrity of actuarial reporting and supporting key business decisions through insightful analysis and effective risk management.

The role offers significant exposure to senior leadership, the opportunity to lead cross-functional initiatives, and the ability to drive innovation, automation, and continuous improvement across actuarial processes while developing high-performing actuarial talent.

Key Responsibilities

Lead actuarial activities across MAS US, ensuring alignment with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.
Create robust actuarial insights and analyses that support strategic decision-making, financial performance assessment, and risk management.
Oversee the delivery of actuarial results under US GAAP and US STAT, ensuring accuracy, consistency, transparency, and timely reporting.
Manage relationships with Finance, Business, Product, IT, Audit, and Global Actuarial stakeholders, serving as a key point of coordination and influence.
Develop and mentor actuarial professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Coordinate regional actuarial processes, governance activities, leadership forums, and initiatives to improve efficiency, standardization, controls, and automation.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science and demonstrated ability to apply actuarial expertise to financial reporting, valuation, and strategic business decisions.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, US STAT, LDTI, VNB, and EC reporting frameworks, including their application in actuarial reporting and analysis.
Significant actuarial experience within the insurance or financial services industry.
Proven leadership and stakeholder management capabilities, with experience influencing senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to balance strategic thinking and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Proactive, structured, and results-oriented approach with a focus on accountability and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of actuarial experience, including leadership responsibilities within insurance or financial services organizations.
Experience working in regional, global, or multi-country environments, managing diverse stakeholders and competing priorities.
Experience leading actuarial transformation, process optimization, standardization, or automation initiatives.
Knowledge and practical application of data analytics, emerging technologies, and AI-driven solutions to enhance actuarial processes and insights.
Demonstrated success building and developing high-performing actuarial teams.
Strong ability to identify risks, challenge assumptions, and drive effective governance and control environments.
