JOIN OUR TEAM
BetWarrior is a next-generation digital gaming company with a bold mission: to redefine the way people experience sports betting and casino entertainment across Latin America.
With a dynamic and diverse team, deep market insights, and cutting-edge technology, we're creating an experience that is personalized, responsible, and always player-first.
Great people, bold ideas, and a sharp focus on user experience set us apart.
Purpose
We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer with strong analytical skills and a product-oriented mindset to join our multidisciplinary teams. At BetWarrior, we are evolving toward a Spec-Driven Development (SDD) and Given-When-Then / Behavior-Driven Development (GDD/BDD) approach.
In this model, without traditional Business Analysts, the Backend team plays a key role: leading the initial technical analysis based on Product requirements, establishing the conversation with the Frontend team, and defining contracts, models, and interactions before writing a single line of code.
In this role, you'll
- Lead Technical analysis and SDD. Take the lead in defining functional and technical specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger, data models, sequence/state diagrams). Produce clear documentation both for Product stakeholders and for the technical team to operate and maintain the solution.
- Act as a communication bridge within the team. Work in small, autonomous squads, actively collaborating with Product, UX, and Frontend to align on endpoints and integration contracts.
- Design and develop resilient, low-latency, highly concurrent backend architectures, with a strong focus on event-driven architectures.
- Understand that quality goes beyond code: incorporate metrics, structured logging, and tracing from the design stage to ensure effective production monitoring.
- Translate complex business scenarios into structured acceptance criteria (Given-When-Then / Gherkin), working closely with the Automation QA team.
What we look for in an exceptional candidate
- 5+ years of experience in
software engineering background in highly complex and scalable backend environments.
- Solid experience with Java and modern frameworks (Spring Boot), which are the core technical foundation of our platforms.
- Experience with distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and messaging/event-driven tools (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to lead upfront technical design through comprehensive specifications, technical diagrams, and API definitions.
- Strong interest in system telemetry (metrics, logging, tracing) and troubleshooting production bottlenecks.
- Ability to articulate technical decisions, communicate architecture to non-technical stakeholders, and design maintainable, long-term solutions.
Bonus points if you also have
- Hands-on experience with Cloud infrastructure (AWS) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Previous experience managing critical incidents and conducting post-mortems, using those learnings to anticipate potential failures during the design stage.
- Familiarity with reactive programming principles or advanced concurrency patterns.
How we do things
BetWarrior is a company in expansion. The team is fast-moving, collaborative, and demanding — with high standards for quality and a genuine commitment to building something that lasts. We are not looking for someone to fill a seat. We are looking for people who want to grow with the company, take ownership of their work, and be part of building a regional team that operates at a high level across multiple markets.
For the right person, this is an opportunity to join at a stage where your contribution is visible, your growth is real, and the path forward is defined by what you deliver — not by time in role.
We expect every team member to live our values
