We are looking for a Lead Data Engineer to spearhead a GCP-based data platform initiative. This role centers on leading the design, development, and evolution of data pipelines and analytics infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, shaping a scalable and reliable data ecosystem that fuels reporting and analytics across the organization. As a technical leader, you will guide a team of data engineers, set best practices, and serve as the key technical authority on the platform.
Responsibilities

Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of data pipelines leveraging Dataflow on GCP

Define standards and drive the development and optimization of data models and queries within BigQuery

Oversee the design and support of reporting and analytics layers powered by Looker (or similar BI tooling)

Own the technical direction and evolution of the broader GCP Data Platform

Establish and enforce data governance best practices, covering access controls, data quality, lineage, and documentation across pipelines and datasets

Mentor and guide data engineers, performing code reviews and fostering technical growth within the team

Partner with cross-functional stakeholders and leadership to convert business and data requirements into scalable technical solutions and long-term roadmaps

Set up monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting practices to safeguard data pipeline performance and reliability

Drive technical decision-making, assess new tools and technologies, and champion continuous improvement
Requirements

5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering

Minimum 1 year of experience leading teams and owning end-to-end delivery of data platform initiatives

Deep understanding of GCP-based data platform architecture and design patterns

Advanced proficiency in BigQuery, covering schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning at scale

Expertise in Dataflow for building and scaling batch and/or streaming data pipelines

Strong knowledge of Looker or equivalent BI/analytics tooling, including semantic modeling

Expert-level SQL skills and solid command of data engineering fundamentals (ETL/ELT, data modeling, orchestration)

Background in defining technical standards, mentoring engineers, and driving architectural decisions

Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities

Fluency in Portuguese with English at B2+ level for team and cross-functional collaboration
